My Starcraft 2 strategy is just horrible?
I keep getting massed by units I don’t even come close to having. I have a good ground defense but right when I get ready to attack they always assualt with air. How do people push out air so quickly (Terran OR Protoss). Also, is it good to upgrade at all?
admin answers:
The basics in massing (macro) and army faster is to have multiple unit producing buildings and at the same time have enough income to support those unit producing buildings. The more minerals and gas you have coming in the more you are able to produce. If you ever find yourself with extra minerals and gas by a lot then you should make more unit producing building or get upgrades.

In your opinion, what is the best Starcraft 2 strategy and / or race?
I know it depends on the user, but what do you think?
admin answers:
I must say that Terran is a very diverse race and that is what makes it different. For the Terrans there is no such thing as just running in and attacking, but a lot of micro involved. Whether you have an MMM ball, helions, or vikings, the terrans are always agile and fast. Overall I like the 1/1/1 (Destiny Cloud Fist) for terran as it allows you to build any unit as you have a Barracks, Factory, and Starport.
Better warm up for Starcraft, there’s a Blizzard a comin’

Campaign or online?
If you are playing the campaign pay attention to the “new units” that you get at the start of the mission because these are usually the ones that are essential to winning. In the “Great Train Robbery” you can’t win unless you build a crap load of Diamondbacks and at the same time destroy the enemy bunkers with normal troops. I hated that mission – way too hard for an early one. You might want to reduce the game speed to slow.
There are lots of tactics and strategies and there’s always some show-off who will find a way to counter new ones so there’s never one fool-proof system you can rely on all the time. In the tutorials section is a list of unit types with descriptions of their strengths and weaknesses; make sure you read it!
It depends how experienced you are at games like this but if you’re a complete novice I’d say put up more bunkers than you need around your base and keep a couple of SCV’s close by to repair them, bunkers are vulnerable to units like Siege Tanks and Battlecruisers but they can hold off most enemy troops very effectively. Churn out lots of ordinary Marines – they can shoot both ground and air units – and produce a few Medics to keep them alive.
Defense is ALWAYS stronger than offense so it’s usually easier to defend a base than to attack one but you have to expand to new mineral fields to get resources to build more troops; don’t attack an occupied mineral field unless you have enough firepower; sometimes a small squad of Marauders will be enough to blast an enemy base (Marauders have weak armor but powerful weapons) but once you have built a Command Center on a new mineral field (or moved your existing Command Center to the new site) you will have to defend it just like your first base so you’ll need more bunkers and more Marines and Medics.
If there is a big open area where enemy troops can walk into your base put a couple of large buildings in the way to create a bottleneck; it’ll make it easier to kill them as they come through.
If you play against human opponents watch out for nuclear strikes; use detectors (missile turrets and sensor towers) to spot them and kill Ghosts/Spectres quick. Don’t panic over nukes, it’s an expensive attack and useless if it’s not exploited because it won’t take long to rebuild new facilities.
