POLL: INTER-RATIAL RELATIONSHIPS?
Ok I’m feeling really geeky- am I the only girl with a crush on Data (from Star Trek TNG)? :3
I find him simply divvvine :P
I will not describe my sexual fantasies here or you guys won’t be able to sleep tonight, but in this case do you think that inter-ratial relationships are okay? Data is “fully functional” and he sure as hell turns me on!
I guess Androids could be considered humanoids.
Opinions?

Does trying to learn and get smarter, hurt social relationships?
Basically, I’m just wondering if constantly trying learn stuff, hurts relationships, overall. Like, I am really shy, and I really don’t have a social life. I have this deep urge, all the time, to learn about stuff. By stuff, I mean like military history, government, geography, countries, types of animals, oceans, astronomy, electronics (hdtv,xbox360,surround sound, etc) I constantly watch the history channel, discovery channel, national geographic, the science channel, sometimes the military channel. However, the rare times I do go out, with my brothers friends, if I talk, I only talk about science, animals, wars, movies that are coming out in the theatres. I never talk about sex, getting some, etc. Is there something wrong with me? I feel like everyone around me thinks I’m weird, they even are starting to tease me and say he’s the smart one, hes a walking encyclopedia. I feel more like a robot, data off star trek, more than a human being. I wish I was different. Am I strange? Advise?
admin answers:
You’re probably strange to THEM but not strange. You just need to find some friends who share your interests. I consider people who like Celine Dion strange yet she has millions of fans…variety is he spice of life. You’re not hurting anyone so pursue your interests and don’t feel ashamed of who you are.

Star Trek Nemesis questions?
1. I loved watching Riker and Troi finally getting married, but I thought Troi was in a relationship with Will Riker’s alter ego Thomas Riker who should be serving another starship. What happened to Thomas Riker? Did I misinterpret the TV episode and when Thomas Riker left the two parted ways with each other?
2. When Picard and B4 are kidnapped onto Scimitar, it turned out that the enemy made a mistake and what he thought was B4 that he transported was actually Data, who made Picard’s escape possible. How did Shinzon make such a stupid mistake to transport Data and not his own android (B4)?
3. When Reman ship Scimitar takes over Enterprise, why only such a small group of Remans come aboard? I mean the Scimitar is HUGE, like at least four times larger than Enterprise. They must have on board way more than a little team that they transported to Enterprise. What is the explanation for it?
admin answers:
First off al Nemesis was a terrible movie and that should say enough.
1) Tom Riker started to rekindle a relationship with Troi, but when we got his own assignment from Star Fleet he jumped at the chance to restart his career. When he left Troi realized that Tom was going to put if career first just like Will did. Tom appeared again on Deep Space Nine, and I believe was either killed or taken by Cardasions.
2) Data and B4 have the exact same body, the only difference is programing. As I recall Data removed some type of transmitter from B4 and put it on himself
3) Budget, the more Remen they show us means the that many more people they need to put into makeup.

Did Jordi LaForge ever get laid on Star Trek: The Next Generation?
To all those TNG fans out there – this is an important question. I beleive that I have seen every single episode of TNG. If you recall, even the android Data got some with Tasha Yar? All the key characters – Worf, Beverly, Troi, Will, and Piccard all had intimate relations except poor LaForge. Yes, he did have the one “Holodeck” love affair with the engineer lady- but there was no intimacy involved. Think of all the times LaForge saved that ship, was he not worth a piece of a$$ to the producers of that show. I am really seeking confirmation of what I already fear to be true. Jordi never had a “real” relationship, much less a romp in the hay for all of his engineering feats, right?

From Memory Alpha, under the “Romance” heading in Geordi’s entry:
Christy Henshaw – Efforts to date Enterprise-D crewmate Christy Henshaw were initially unsuccessful, although she became much more interested in him after an encounter with the Zalkonian known as John Doe left him feeling much more confident. (TNG: “Booby Trap”, “Transfigurations”).
Leah Brahms – Working with a holographic representation of engineer Leah Brahms, a key member of the Galaxy Class Starship Development Project and, in a way, the mother of the Enterprise’s warp propulsion system, La Forge fell in love with her. Upon meeting the real Dr. Brahms one year later, in 2367, things were everything but rosy. Both had to work hard to find a way of cooperating, but eventually became friends. (TNG: “Booby Trap”, “Galaxy’s Child”). In the alternate future timeline shown in the TNG finale “All Good Things…”, La Forge had married Leah Brahms and had children with her.
Aquiel Uhnari – Investigating into the supposed death of one and disappearance of another officer at a remote subspace relay station in 2369, Geordi reviewed the personal correspondence of the suspected victim, Lieutenant Aquiel Uhnari. In the process, he came to know and like her so much that upon her unexpected apprehension, both formed a short relationship. (TNG: “Aquiel”)
So, yeah, very little onscreen nookie. But I betcha that *that’s* the primary reason why he got ocular implants in the movies–something about staring at a hairband or clouded-over eyes is bound to be a turn-off to many women. :D

Girls- What do you think about slightly autistic guys?
I know this is a weird question to ask, however I thought I’d ask it anyways. The reason I ask is because I’m slightly autistic myself, and although I’m not interested in a relationship, I was curious as to what women thought about slightly autistic guys in the context of relationships.
When I talk about highly autistic guys, I mean guys who have Asperger’s or P.D.D-NOS, who are high functioning and can live and work on their own. Well anyways, if by chance none of you encountered a slightly autistic guy, I’ll explain what they’re like behavior wise.
Autism is a neurological disorder that inhibits social interaction with other people. Basically slightly autistic people have an extremely difficult time understanding verbal emotional cues (like understanding what a person is feeling by the tonality of their voice), and nonverbal emotional cues (like body language), things that most people have an understanding of. Thus they are naturally introverted and have difficulty being sociable in social settings useless they’ve had practice. They usually are very shy and tend to be reserved in behavior, and they also (well at least from what I’ve observed) tend to stoic and logical. They usually don’t have many friends and they tend to prefer being alone as to being in a crowd of people, whom they have difficulty understanding. From the people I’ve known who were slightly autistic, they tend to be very unsuccessful romantically because they don’t know how to interact with the opposite sex. In a sense, it is like being a shy guy who can’t understand body language and verbal cues that portray emotion.
Despite their lack of understanding concerning social dynamics, slightly autistic people tend to have average to above average intelligence. A lot of them are extremely knowledgeable and intelligent concerning facts, trivia, or certain subject matter. They often have an obsessive compulsive fixation with patterns and routines, and might incorporate them into learning.
The best comparisons I can make to slightly autistic people in television, movies, and the general media would be: Sheldon (from the Big Bang Theory, although his behavior is not like all slightly autistic people, but there are a lot of autistic characteristics he shows), Abe Sapien from Hellboy, Data from Star Trek, and Spock from Star Trek.

I would try and help bring out the person inside them and try to understand them. I am very reserved myself and wouldn’t mind being with another person like that;) If you had the patience to try and get to know them then you may find that just because they don’t have many friends and stuff doesn’t mean that they aren’t a perfectly nice person. And of course being clever is always very good:) Who doesn’t like a sucessful guy?
I had a friend who found it really difficult to communicate with people and when i persisted talking and being friendly to them and they realised i wasn’t poking fun they opened up and now we are practically best friends. Of course i would give an autistic guy a chance:)
