Sharon asks…
Star Trek, Nemesis is on, do you prefer Data with or without an emotion chip?
I know, I’m a doofus for liking it and I can live with that.
admin answers:
I like it. Over the years of watching the show I kinda started to care about Data. The chip brings him closer to his goal of being as “Human” as he possibly can. If it makes Data happy, I’m happy.
Now who’s the doofus?
Robert asks…
Do you think Data (of Star Trek TNG) was happier after installing his emotion chip?
Wow, that’s helpful, dude.. in a totally gay way..
LOL.. gosh, ask a simple question, get simple answers..
ashley b, when you say, “there is a whole (real) world,” are you saying there’s an UN-real one out there as well??
Let’s hear your foundations for your metaphysics, such as they may (or may not) really be..
LOL/JK…
gosh, ask a simple question, get simple answers..
…excepting ‘dis_orient_ed’ .. who has boldy gone to the crux of the biscuit here in this Q.. albeit perhaps a somewhat weightier response than needed, still got the “feel” of this little brain teaser.
admin answers:
No. Feeling happiness or sadness is not quantifiably comparable to the absence of either.

Sandy asks…
What is the joke that goes with the punch line that Data remembers when he gets his emotion chip?
Star Trek: Generations (1994)
Data: I get it! “The clown can stay, but the Ferengi in the gorilla suit has to leave!” I get it!
admin answers:
Good Question. I’ve wondered that as well. In that part of Generations Geordi asks Data when that was and Data tells him it was during the Farpoint mission. In TNG’s openier “Encounter at Farpoint” there was never any part. I guess like that other person that mention maybe it was just to have Data laugh and something because of his emition chip. What was really funny at that part when its a 7 year joke and he just gets it. Although the part never really exisited.
Donald asks…
Does Lt. Commander Data cry in Star Trek VII Generations?
I know he gets an emotion chip intalled and he does funny things after it’s installed. Is crying one of the emotions he experiences?
admin answers:
Yes. At the very end of the movie, Data and Geordi are exploring the wreckage of the Enterprise, which has crash-landed on whatever planet that Picard was on. All of a sudden, Data finds Spot, his beloved cat, and he starts crying.
George asks…
Star Trek, anyone?
On The Next Generation, episode Descent, Data obtains the emotion chip from Lore. The chip is circular like a small wafer. In the movie Generations, the chip is rectangular and much larger. When did the chip change? Was there an episode that that happened?
admin answers:
No there was no episode about it . They probably just forgot what shape they used in the series and made up a new on for the movie!!!! I love star trek tng and data is my favorite character so i have paid pretty close attention to the show and the movies.
