This is the *best* Star Trek movie out there. “Why would you do this?” “Because I LOVE you, Spock”…that would have been the more logical response… Just to be safe…I don’t own Star Trek.

One problem with this version is while the introduction is great, it should have been put after the Challenger dedication & Paramount logo.
So it would be: dedication, logo, introduction, main credits.
Just my opinion….

Interesting I had never seen this before. This, I suppose, was to clarify things for the larger audience that was probably unaware of the precluding events. This movie was meant for larger audiences and because of it was the highest grossing film until recently.

For those that don’t know, this intro was only included in the European theatrical release because STIII did so poorly over there that hardly anybody saw it, so this was meant to “clue in” the audience so they’d know just how the movies were connected.

I like the classic star trek films, back when William Shatner was Kirk, and not a living parod of himself…

I’m not saying anything, but sections of the overture bear a remarkable similarity to Wagner’s Meistersinger.

errr, why is the Vulcan symbol in the background of the ceremony the same as that of the Borg?

ST IV was, without a doubt, the HAPPIEST Star Trek movie I have ever seen !! Even with the past destruction of the Enterprise & the Earth endangered by that strange alien probe endeavoring to contact whales. I wish they’d show it more on cable.

I rented this movie a few months back, and the intro flashback sequence wasn’t on the DVD! What gives?
