www.blip.tv watch the full review uninterrupted here….An epic Nemesis review will be coming eventually! Don’t forget to subscribe!! This is the 4th and final installment of my Star Trek: Insurrection Review. In this last part I examine the ending of the film and how some youthful radiation causes everyone to make poor decisions. One has to wonder if the film makers and writers were exposed to this same radiation. It still saddens my soul how poorly made all the TNG films were as opposed to the series which was for the most part very well written. The problem is that the hack producers that were left in charge of the series after Gene died all took part in the story aspects of the feature films cause they needed to ensure the marketability factor and their own egos I assume (again see: catch 22 or contradiction) If they had taken any one writer from the show and said “hey you, write a feature TNG film okay?” we would have had a slew of better films. Instead TNG fell victim to “higher up meddling and marketability” and this began the downward spiral towards the end of trek as we know it. These movies and their plot lines have the logic, realism, and complexity of a Saturday morning cartoon show. They lack the grit and awesomeness of the TOS features and feel sanitized and cheap. Fuck everything. By the way and for the record, Insurrection is probably the best of the 4 films too. I think I have more to say about Nemesis. But nothing will ever top Generations as far shit goes.

Also, they want to kill a planet for medecines they might be able to develop. Just set up a colony on that planet and ferry sick people to it.
They wanted to find a lifeless rock for the Genesis project but this one they’re like, aww just push the button.

Just by looking at the clips, I can see Insurrection was nothing but a glorified TV episode.

Picard and.. rua..ver.. :D LOL!
RoninDave says
you see, transporters have the ability to detect hostile intentions so that’s why they didn’t beam up Ruafo.
Anyway I see there’s practically a book of debate from Zmoonchild over that 1 scene from Star Trek III. I hate it when people focus on some tiny detail and miss the overall point. Leaving an enemy to die helpless is pretty shitty

@twooffour
So Picard and Roo-Roo-Phiolf fight it out on a set where the blue-screen didn’t work.

I did the whole “convincing speech” thing.

@RoninDave
Well, that scene was a different from the typical “vilain gets spared and gets karmic death after trying to take advantage”, and I’m pretty sure it was supposed to make the audience cheer at how badass Kirk was for having enough and just kicking this asshole in the face until he fell.
So it was a mix of “do what is right” and “when a line is crossed, be a cool motherfucker instead”.
Obviously, this scene here takes it one huge step further, but TNG had some pretty immoral moments,
twooffour says
@RoninDave
, as well.
Although more of the “dogmatic pedants being obsessed about illogical prime directive” kind and less of the “inconsiderate swashbuckler”, although you gotta remember that one episode where space terrorists invaded the Enterprise and Picard did a Bruce Willis thing.
Could’ve brought that up in these reviews :)

@dogdrovenorth
I like how it sounds like “whoever” at that spot ;)

What’s the name of the song that is played at the end?

Has anyone ever noticed how fucked up the scaling is in almost all star trek movies and shows? The Enterprise E is fucking massive and yet it looks tiny in comparison to the collector, even though the inside of the collector is really small…
obsidianorder1 says
@shmitty25 Yeah he did, didn’t he. Don’t feel bad though, Nemesis and Episode III are among some of my most fondly remembered Sci Fis; now I’m wandering whether or not I have the right to call myself sentient.
